Looking for a custom painted FLCL Canti figure

Postby Katheryn » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:10 am

So a while back one of my best friends had a one of a kind custom painted figure disappear from his desk at work. It was of the robot Canti from FLCL for anyone familiar with that. I'd actually like to try and replace that figure as a Christmas gift but I'm not really sure if there is a good resource or community in place for buying those sort of things. I'm also not sure if there is a place to buy "blanks" so I can commission an artist (if anyone here was interested that would be awesome) to paint it. Any help is appreciated!

What about this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/FOOLY-COOLY-FLC ... _500wt_922

You're very good at making sculpey models. Canti doesn't look difficult to sculpt. You should make one and paint it. That would be the best present.

Oooh, I should have specified in the initial post but I think I want to find one of the 12" figurines. Thanks though!

thanks, qoh! i had given some thought to buying one to paint myself, but given that i don't know anything about painting vinyl figures i think it might be risky. i can't say i have a very strong design aesthetic either, so i'd probably make a mess of it, haha. i guess i could always get something cheap to practice on first, but i still think it might be best to have someone with experience handle it. :lazer:

random thought: I think wp has a pretty good model of that robot. hint www.shapeways.com It would probably take him some time to fix it up to make it printable though, but maybe he's available for freelance work.

why replace with equivalent when you can replace with better?

slid3 - oooh, i'm wondering if it is. he mentioned there was a flame type pattern on the legs and it seems like that could meet the description. he mentioned that the artist had like 100 pieces that were done i think, but i don't remember the specifics. i'd be pretty excited to find the exact piece since i know he liked it a lot.

also is nova right about you having made a canti model before? because that's an awesome idea too if you're interested in a commission dealio :mmm:

Hahaha well.., were it not for the fact i'm not sure i actually still have the model (render was made a couple of years ago), additionally this could be quite costly if you want to have it at 14 inches 3d print wise, cheapest & fastest bet would be to find it online i imagine.

but otherwise drop a line :hee:
